Tele Physical Therapy for Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BBPV)
Dizzy but busy? We have you covered. Illinois is a direct access state, meaning you can be treated by a physical therapist without seeing a physician. Too dizzy to drive or you do not have the time to go to the doctor then go to a PT clinic? Give telehealth a chance. If you are independent and truly have BPPV, telehealth is an excellent option for you. Vertigo affects nearly 40 % of adults in the us in their lifetime. Dizziness affects 80% of people 65 years or older. This can lead to falls and a sequela of other health issues. If your dizziness is due to bppv, you most likely can treat it in the comfort of your home with the assistance of a therapist after a quick screen and explanation of treatment. If it is due to other factors it may be treatable via telehealth or you may need to be referred to a PT clinic. Dr. Meg has been treating vestibular disorders and other neurological conditions over the past 5 years. Schedule below, we will attempt to accommodate you quickly, Dr. Meg does work part time in clinic.
Considerations for telehealth for BBPV:
— Blood pressure < 150/90
— Access to a bed to perform canalith repositioning techniques
— Independence with mobility in order to lay flat, turn over and get back up (If assistance is required make sure to have help with you)
— No recent spinal fractures.
